Space shuttle Atlantis blasts off

. | The shuttle, containing seven astronauts, launched at 7.38pm [2338 GMT] and reached orbit nine minutes later, on Nasa’s first shuttle mission of the year.
During their 11-day trip, the seven Atlantis astronauts plan to install a 16-tonne truss segment on the ISS and deliver a third set of solar panels, as well as batteries for the orbiting laboratory. |
