US ‘biggest global arms dealer’

. The US has reaffirmed its domination of global weapons trading, cornering nearly 42 per cent of the arms market, according to a US congressional report.

The US concluded $16.9bn worth of arms deals last year, a $3.4bn increase over 2005, the Conventional Arms Transfers to Developing Nations report said.

PKK attacks mini-bus in Şırnak, killing 12 and injuring two

. Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak. Selahattin Aparı, Şırnak’s governor, declared that 12 people were killed and seven injured in the attack. Seven of the dead were village guards.

Security forces surrounded the area immediately after the incident, while the two injured people were flown by helicopter to Şırnak Military Hospital and taken into care.

Taliban rejects Karzai talks offer

Qari Mohammad Yousuf, a Taliban spokesman, told Reuters news agency from an undisclosed location on Sunday that talks with Kabul were out of the question all the time foreign troops remain in the country.
