US president begins Bahrain visit

. George Bush, the US president, has arrived in Bahrain, continuing his tour of allied countries in the Gulf, part of a week-long trip to the Middle East.

The visit aims to drum up support against what he calls an Iranian “threat” and bolster the US role in Israel-Palestinian peace negotiations.

Protests mark Guantanamo six years
