Mr. Bakhtavar was in prison for 80 days after being arrested by Ettelaat on May 2007.

He had addressed 2 open letters to Dr. Akbar Alami (MP from Tabriz) and Ayatollah Shahroody (Justice minister) describing the very bad condition of prison and the pressure that applies to Azerbaijani political activists.

He was sentenced to 15 month and also 6 month ban on foreign travels.

He has already published a letter to UN calling them to act against illegal behaviours by authority of Iran against political prisoners.
