The court passed a decision on arresting General Veli Kucuk and others, who were detained as a result of Ergenekon operation carried out by Turkish law-enforcement bodies, APA’s Turkey bureau reports.
Nine persons, including retired General Veli Kucuk, the leader of the ultra-nationalist Kuvayi Milliye Association Fikri Karadag, Sami Hoshtan, a key figure in the Susurluk investigation, Turkish Orthodox Patriarchy spokesperson Sevgi Erenerol and lawyer Kemal Kerincsiz stood trial yesterday evening. The court passed a decision on arresting the persons, who are accused of entering terrorist organization, inciting people to rebellion against government, carrying illegal arms, leading terrorist organization and other grave crimes.
The defendants were taken to Kartal H Type Closed Prison. The persons accused of such crimes were always held in Bayrampasha jail. The court reportedly passed this decision taking into account the personality of the defendants.
