Iraqi prime Minister has said the Iraqi forces are capable of keeping full security in the country if US-led troops leave at any time they want.

But he added that the forces needed further weapons and rehabilitation to be ready in the case of a withdrawal.

Maliki’s remark comes at a time when pressure in the US Congress is growing for a troop withdrawal from Iraq.

The House of Representative passed legislation on Friday, calling for the withdrawal of most of its US forces in Iraq by April.

US President George W. Bush, who has ruled out any change in war policy before September, has threatened to veto the bill. press
