TORONTO - Get ready for the TORONTO TURKISH FESTIVAL! This year, the Festival will be held on Saturday, August 4th, and Sunday, August 5th , 2007, from 10 am to 10 pm, at the YONGE AND DUNDAS SQUARE, in downtown Toronto. What a great chance to get out with the family and enjoy fun, fine food, fantastic music, and



Toronto’s Mayor, the Honourable Mr. David Miller, will be on hand Saturday, August 4th, at 3 pm, to join in the festivities and receive a small token of appreciation from the Canadian Turkish Friendship Community for his excellent support of multiculturalism in Toronto.

Truly, this is a day not to be missed—a veritable explosion of culinary delights and culture!

Last year’s Festival was a huge hit, with thousands of visitors and media reports of how Turkish culture “won the hearts of Canadians” through this innovative and exciting venture. So you won’t want to miss this year’s, which promises to be even bigger and better!

In addition to the feast, the Festival will feature an absolutely dazzling display of handcrafted linens, clothing, and world-famous Turkish carpets. Be entertained by live demonstrations of the rich artistic legacy of Turkey, and let your kids enjoy their own brand of fun while participating in children’s activities set up just for them. Truly, this is a day not to be missed—a veritable explosion of culinary delights and culture!

The Festival organizer Mr. Mehmet Gul, notes how this Festival is the first Turkish Festival in Canada’s history, and highlights how important activities like this are to contributing to Toronto’s rich and vibrant multiculturalism. Fundraising from the festival will be donated to Nil Academy, a local non-profit educational institution which delivers the Ontario Curriculum alongside Turkish as a heritage language.
