Leader of Turkish opposition Deniz Baykal sharply criticized Abdullah Gul, who is going to visit Yerevan: “If he goes to Armenia, then let him lay a wreath on genocide monument. Thus he will make the people, making him agree to visit Yerevan, happier.”

Deniz Baykal recalled Gul’s speech in parliament in 1993. “Abdullah Gul’s speech in 1993 was so instructive. Those what he said 15 years ago contradict what he says and does today. What has changed since that day? Did Armenia recognize Turkey’s borders, put aside claims to Turkish territories? Did it withdraw genocide claims, or ended occupation of Qarabaq? None of these happened. Nothing has changed. The only thing changed is that the man forgetting what he had said at that time is Turkey’s president now”.ans
